Soros Foundation-Kazakhstan (SFK) is an Almaty-based non-governmental organization established by the Open Society Foundations in 1995 to promote civil-society initiatives in Kazakhstan.
Our mission is promoting values of the open society in Kazakhstan.
- Promote public policies to safeguard fundamental human rights;
- Ensure budget transparency and accountability;
- Increase social activism and tolerance within society.
Since 1995, SFK has granted more than $70 million to promote civil-society initiatives in Kazakhstan, which include a whole range of areas from HIV/AIDS prevention programs to a variety of educational programs, aimed to enhance the skills for critical thinking and public debate.
